Amazon has purchased its first fleet of plane, because the know-how large expands its rising air freight community.
The corporate bought 11 Boeing 767-300 planes from airways Delta and WestJet.
Beforehand, Amazon had relied on leased plane to fulfil its logistical wants.
An announcement defined the brand new planes would “help Amazon’s rising buyer base”.
Plane costs have plummeted over the previous 12 months as journey demand diminished amid various world lockdowns.
“Our aim is to proceed delivering for patrons throughout the US in the best way that they anticipate from Amazon, and buying our personal plane is a pure subsequent step towards that aim,” mentioned Sarah Rhoads, vp of Amazon International Air.
“Having a mixture of each leased and owned plane in our rising fleet permits us to higher handle our operations, which in flip helps us to maintain tempo in assembly our buyer guarantees.”
